Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House today. First-ever woman to do the job in this country. This is good and hopeful news; especially because she is a "San Francisco Liberal" as the right wing likes to label her. She believes in government for and by the people; not just for the elites and the privileged. It will be tough challenging the status quo in Washington, but she is a tough Italian-American grandmother, she can do it!
